The posters from the election are still up everywhere. There has been a lot of air traffic tonight. I can hear gunfire in the distance, but this is not unusual. It may be celebration fire since the election results were announced. I have talked with many locals about the elections, and almost everyone of them was pleased. One was a bit cynical that nothing would change. University Professor - Go figure. This same individual also stated that there would have been an even higher turnout but for the threat of violence. One theme that was common was how everyone was buttoned up afraid to come out on election day morning. This was the case until about mid-morning when people started trickling out to the polls and voted without any problems. Then the groundswell started and people were lined up for blocks to vote. The aftermath looks promising. I am glad that no decisive majority was won by any group or coalition.
