I wish the politicians and news reporters would quit mugging for the microphone to express their dissatisfaction and sympathy and actually do something other than lay blame. They can start by opening up their checkbooks, or better yet, getting in that pickup truck they used for their last "man of the people" photo-op with a tool box and some bottled water and head for Louisiana or Mississippi. Rolling up of sleeves is also advised. I am kind of stuck here for now, so I am sending a check to Catholic Charities. TTLB has an excellent list of places to contribute with links and phone numbers.
I don't have a truck, but a checkbook, which is smoking... :)
You take care, we'll handle this....God bless America

Hey Major K,
On behalf of my emergency response colleagues already setting up shop in Baton Rouge thanks for the support both financial and moral. It means a lot to us over here. We are in for a long and bumpy ride. Looters have been as dangerous as what you have over there. Thank God it is all small arms fire. My rescue helicopters aren't much against small arms fire. I don't mind going into the hot zone but if I have to go in I want to be able to shoot back. I'm a good shot with my sig but with a bottle of saline mmmm not so much. I do better up close and personal. I'm the nurse I have drugs, BIG drugs. I always win up close and personal. Thanks again for the support. In the meantime the Mayor of New Orleans needs to issue an invite for the Shop Vac Convention. I have never seen anything like it. All that water and no place to go. I used to live in south Texas. I am familiar with the array of creepy crawlers from water mocassins to scorpions and fire ants, not to mention those little old gators. Thank God there are no camel spiders. They could be their own flotilla. Thanks again.

I made mine. I donated to that one for the soldiers who lost everything. I figure their sacrifice was double and they really needed it!

Amen. Well said brother! I have volunteered but, all I did was collect money. FEMA is a f***ing joke. I wish I were back in the National Guard. No, wait. I am not an EM anymore. I have managerial skills now.
Shit. I could have put together a command post, 100 helicopters, 1000 school buses, 10,000 soldiers/paramedics/police/firemen, or whatever else it might take and GET THE JOB DONE...ON THE FIRST DAY!!!
Dammit! I HATE governmental bureaucracies!
I could go on an on but you get the point.
Thank you for your service.

Hi MAJK,
Check out the incredible blog by Bill Whittle titled "Tribes"

Thank you for being "grey" and a "sheepdog". Without men like you, we would be toast.

ONLY A COMMUNIST WOULD REMOVE THIS POST.
FIND OUT THE TRUTH ABOUT AMERICA'S SOLDIERS. MANY ARE PRACTICING SATANISTS, WICCANS, PAGANS, AND ATHEISTS. THEY RESEMBLE THE ARMY OF SATAN FAR MORE THAN THE ARMY OF GOD. THE TRUTH HURTS. http://antichristiantroops.blogspot.com.

Dean Berry, I'm not quite sure where you're trying to go with your comment, but who cares. There's a few bad seeds everywhere. I can tell you personally that I don't drag my read end off to a church. Gee - does that make me an Atheist? If that's the case, I'm damn proud of it. It's a free country and we all have rights to believe in whatever we chose. Get over it. I guess for some, baptist and catholics are still the only religions that are accepted. Don't get me wrong - I don't have a problem with either one of them and fully respect people's right to preach and do whatever!
Also, in the link you so generously put up, Nazi's are mentioned. I was born and raised in Germany - does that make me a Nazi?
It's stereo-types like you that have a one-track mine. I'm not against anyone getting their bible out and saying a few prayers. So, why don't you give some of us - mainly our soldiers - the same firetrucking courtesy?
If your boots ain't on the ground over there, you oughta think about strapping them on and getting your reports straight.
I apologize to everyone else having to read my comment. But stereo-types - also known as One-Track minds - like him set me off especially when they speak about OUR Soldiers!
SSG W's Wife OUT!

"Dean Berry" seems to be busy today. I've seen the identical "message" on several blogs. Personally, I think he's off his meds.
I'm very proud of our military and the job they're doing in LA and MS. And overseas! Ignore the obviously deranged!

I've been getting junk posts too. What I'd like to do is have a face to face with these cowards!
Anyway, I concurr Major. I admire your efforts at home as you defennd our country and Iraq abroad. Thank you for your service. By the way, I don't have much, but I gave to the fund for our military men and women who have families in the flooded and damaged regions. Theirs has been a double burden for some time. Now they have lost their homes too and are still defending our country. How can anyone deny the dedication and love of country of our troops?

Now is not the time to point the fingers, except to wag them at those not helping and say to them, HELP, HELP NOW.
There's going to be plenty of blame to go around, from the politicians in N'Awlins who've pissed away decades without a serious evac plan, to the governor of Louisiana, who should have had a disaster recovery plan, to the Feds, who should have quicker on the ball, even if it wasn't their responsibility to take charge.
